Greetings to all readers of our blog, chinoiresie.info! I am Alex Gooden, along with my wife, Li Mei, and we are excited to welcome you to our blog.

A little bit about us. We met online on a dating site, and after six months, I took a flight to Beijing to meet Li Mei in person. Half a year later, we tied the knot in a traditional Chinese wedding ceremony, which was a truly magical experience. Following our wedding, we moved to the United States to start our married life together.

Fast forward five years, and we launched chinoiresie.info, a blog where we share our experiences of dating Chinese women, understanding cultural traditions in China, and the journey we undertook from virtual acquaintances to life partners.

But we aim to make chinoiresie.info much more than a mere chronicle of our lives. We are deeply interested in bridging the gap between Eastern and Western cultures. Therefore, we have dedicated sections discussing various aspects such as Chinese cuisine, where Li Mei and I share our favorite homemade recipes and the stories behind them, as well as recommendations for authentic Chinese restaurants in the United States.

Additionally, we have a section called 'Traditions & Festivals,' where we delve into Chinese holidays, their historical significance, and how they are celebrated in today's world. We believe that by sharing these insights, we can help foster a better understanding and appreciation of the rich Chinese culture.

On our blog, 'Expat Life,' we discuss the intricacies and challenges of navigating through a different culture, language, and geography. We hope that our tips and experiences can be of use to anyone considering or already living an expat life.

We also run a 'Language Corner,' for those interested in learning Mandarin. Here, Li Mei shares her expertise, teaching basic phrases, conversational Mandarin, and even intricate aspects of the language, such as Chinese characters.

Last but not least, we've started a section dedicated to 'Travel in China,' where we compile our travelogues and recommendations for various destinations in China, aiming to inspire and guide those planning to explore this wonderful country.
